Home sales in Brooklyn, Queens rise as prices tumble

The number of sales jumped 20.4% in Brooklyn and 18.2% in Queens compared with early 2009, according to a report to be issued today by brokerage firm Prudential Douglas Elliman.
Pent-up demand and historically low interest rates lured more homebuyers into deals in Queens andBrooklynin the spring, but housing prices continued to tumble.
