Bliss Gourmet Cafe Back on the Scene! (new and improved 2.0 version)

Not having Bliss cafe for the last week was a real downer for Kew Gardens. Our only cafe, place to sit and read the paper with good music, people and atmosphere, place to get a good coffee or tea, bagels and muffins in the morning and sandwiches and soup for lunch, a place to sit down and relax or quickly run off to your train with your goodies. After a small hiatus due to some minor building related problems Bliss is back on the scene and better than ever. The changes they have implemented while closed make it much more attractive and clean now, especially that warm weather is upon us and their outdoor tables are a great spot to hang out at. Bliss has also started a Spring Special for the month of May for its   customers giving them 10% off their bills! Just mention that you read this article!

Also, Bliss's hours have been extended for the weekends and they will be open past 9pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

One more exciting thing - the owner is thinking of having a small wine and cheese board selection for evenings. So, we are doing a small survey for them in order to gauge interest in this. Please respond here with your thoughts of having a small selection of wines, and several cheese plates with bread and fruit, etc, available at Bliss in the evenings. I for one am ALL over it and I really hope she does it soon.

Bliss Gourmet Cafe is located at the Kew Gardens LIRR station at 82-60 Austin Street. (718) 849-7647

  1. Heck Yes! Wine and Cheese and I'm there! What a great way for me and the hubs to unwind and hang with friends--when does it start?

Will the wine and cheese be available at lunchtimes too?

  4. This sounds great. I would suggest 2 or 3 cheese plates with an assortment of three different cheeses on each with some grapes and good bread and then maybe 4 different wines between red and white. Now all they need is a jazz trio to play there and I will be hooked.

  6. Great Idea, but Joanne must keep the place cleaner. They were recently shut down by the Health Department for many violations that they had not cured, Vermin, Rat Droppings, etc., so until they reall clean the windows and the back area, it will be hard to win my confidence to eat there again. Coffee & service, however, is good. Wine & cheese will be terrific.

  7. I agree. I think she is working hard, although, to get the problems solved. The place is MUCH cleaner in front and behind the counter. I don't know why those windows have not been cleaned! I want to do it myself every time I walk by!

  9. Bliss is such a sad excuse for a cafe. The coffee is mediocre at best. I got an espresso once, and it was so bad I couldn't even finish it. Blech. It's a shame that this is the only cafe in KG.
